the mind is my playground

the mind is my playground,
that's where light
and space
become moments
of ephemeral experience

a birth was on the way,
a smile adds at least another
thousand kilowatts to the pause,
like a shearing beam of light

the child had come into life,
in a dance of brisk luminosity
and shadowy echoes,
in an homage to fire,
reckless impulses
and lively endurance,
pushing toward pure presence

un-conditionality has been,
paradoxically,
the one unchanging trait,
distilling fields of vigorous,
multicolored indications,
reducing the word to a magical
indicator of warning signs

around and around, 180 degrees,
ideas seemed to merge intangibly with it

but conditions in that modest realm
dramatically changed from turning away
to acceptance in an instant
