One of the most pronounced symptoms of the
wide-scale institutionalization of love practices,
has been the rise of skill sets and talents
as a pedantic category and the subsequent
escalation of the mischievous sprite’s role and visibility -
sometimes to the point of supplanting the place
of the lover as the reason for being
Occasionally this inversion is
justified, but more often it stands as sad and
stunted evidence of the blahblahblah-ification of
what is essentially a complex preverbal
multisensory language; just because a picture's
worth a thousand words doesn't mean those words
demand to be spelled out
At best, this confusion results in an awkward social
discourse on this or that copulation buzz-word of the
month, where vaguely relevant lovers are shoehorned
into kinky go-go boots that squeezes in all the wrong places
At worst, it elevates practices that have no function,
outside of their role other then determining,
outcomes of squabbles between lovers,
intended for the purpose of secure,
“who is the biggest cheese around here”
(but do not worry, the tickets are only
good for rides within the walls of this theme park)
